Welcome - Director of People and Culture

Welcome and thank you for taking time to consider this opportunity.

It is such an interesting time to be joining Paul Hamlyn Foundation. We refreshed our strategy in October 2020, and we have a clear commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and to becoming anti-racist that sits at the heart of it and informs how we operate as a grant-maker and an employer. We are ambitious and we still have much to do, and we see this role as central to helping us making the changes we want to see across the organisation.

The Director of People and Culture role is newly created in response, and we want to find someone to be a champion as we seek to develop a truly inclusive culture, acknowledging that the work needs to be owned by us all. I expect you will be a powerful communicator as well as an expert adviser.

You will work with colleagues across PHF to really shape this work and play an important role as a member of the Senior Leadership Team. We are a relatively small organisation, and our people and processes have had to cope with significant change, so I would hope that you have experience as an adaptive leader, bringing capacity to help us manage complexity and an openness to experiment and learn from different approaches and thinking. And we are also looking for someone who can develop a collegiate environment, where everyone can see their contribution and is working towards shared objectives, driven by the highest performance standards.

PHF is a stimulating place to work, and you will be central in developing our talented team. Those of us who work here share a common commitment to social justice and supporting social change. If this sounds like the type of role and organisation which would suit you, then we would very much welcome your application.
